All Blacks Silverfern
Symbol of national pride.
Until 1986 the All Blacks silver fern had changed many times, and had no trademark protection. What the New Zealand Rugby Union needed was a unique device that would brand the team and give it new merchandising opportunities. Enter Dave Clark. Dave’s series of elongated triangles that made up the abstract shape of the fern allowed the NZRFU to move forward with its first registered All Blacks logo. This version of the fern has since reached iconic status, as a symbol of national pride.
