Dave Clark Design is an independent design and digital agency started by Dave, Andy, Jonathan and Andrew in 2001. We care about forging lasting relationships with clients more than awards. Yet we remain true to our design heritage. And while we talk strategy, we firmly focus on the ‘doing’ because we know your business relies on customers interacting with beautifully designed experiences, sooner rather than later.
Our strength lies in our multi-disciplined approach, which leads to more consistent, memorable and complete experiences for customers online and offline, globally and locally. Right now there are over 60 of us doing great work, day in and day out across five studios. Together we work as a single, integrated agency that crosses borders and time zones.
How we work
Clients come to us for our service, as well as our ability to cut through the noise and get things done. Much of this stems from having the right attitude and making the right investment in senior talent across the board. Talent that balances blue sky ideas with practicality, and creativity with processes, in order to deliver on your key metrics.
We’re open and flexible about our processes. And we work harmoniously with appointed suppliers, including advertising agencies, to best ensure brand consistency and integrity.
But we don’t silo our teams, which is good because it means they’re free to collaborate across disciplines. Information architects work with copywriters, graphic designers work with digital designers. Likewise, design informs our digital, UX informs our design and so on.
Whatever we do, and however we do it (agile or waterfall), we make sure that working with us is easy by being prepared, flexible and nice. Nice by itself is good. But nice plus great results – now that’s when you hit the jackpot.

Displays and exhibitions
A practising designer for more than 30 years, Dave is responsible for the branding and design of many of New Zealand’s most iconic brands, including Air New Zealand and the All Blacks. He is a past DINZ president and recently received the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Designers Institute of New Zealand for his work in furthering New Zealand's design culture. Dave remains key to our strong agency culture. He makes sure our values are applied to everything we do.

Group General Manager
Andy is responsible for the overall performance of all four DCD offices. As a qualified designer with a background in advertising, design and production there’s no one better placed to understand the many facets of our business. When Andy’s not working side by side with senior management on matters of strategy and project management, he’s taking care of the finer details of resourcing and operations.

GROUP CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Andrew leads all creative teams across the Asia-Pacific region. As a part owner of the agency (alongside Dave, Andy and Jonathan) he’s also a businessman who is keenly aware of the job design has to do in motivating and persuading customers to act. Highlights from his 15-year career include the re-brand of ANZ’s Private Banking, the launch of Countdown’s Signature range, and the roll-out of major sponsorship packages for both the Australian Open and Shanghai Masters.

Group Digital Director
Jonathan sets the digital strategy and the tone of the user experience for our digital team. Led by the design and user experience of a solution as much as its technical foundation, he ensures a customer’s interactive experience is relevant, authentic and rewarding. A key part of Jonathan’s role is to help clients shape what they want to get out of a project and then develop a content-driven strategy for our in-house team to realise – be it an app, website or more specialist digital solution.
